Born from the creative silence of the pandemic, "Fingers to the Glass" is a deeply personal and evocative choral work that captures the longing, isolation, and eventual renewal of communal love.

Featuring F. Taylor Atkinson's poignant poetry, the piece unfolds through hauntingly repetitive themes ("I touch my fingers to the glass") symbolizing the monotony of virtual connection. Layers of tension build to a breaking point, giving way to a burst of new harmonies as voices find hope in silver linings. In a moving conclusion, the choir finally sings in homophony. Yet, the piece is left unresolved as an ambiguous final chord lingers as reminder of the complexity of human connection in a changed world.

A stirring and timely addition to any choral program.
