Commissioning a
Custom Composition

What People Say:

My colleague and I commissioned a piece from Bryan for performance at the 2018 CMEA conference.

He was wonderful to work with - really wanting our input as to text, level of difficulty, overall length, etc. The result was a beautiful and sensitive piece called "Suenos Lunares," which our students absolutely loved. It was very rewarding to sing and had so many depths that we could dig into as inspiration for our performance.

I have commissioned Bryan to write music at every level, from unison children’s choir to eight-part advanced choral repertoire for graduate-level singers.

Every time has been an incredible experience. The music is always stunning and exemplifies his understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of the choir, fitting whatever aesthetic I ask of him. I couldn’t recommend him more.

My mission is to engage audiences and teach/reinforce core musical concepts by crafting high-quality, accessible music. I am open to receiving commissions for all kinds of events and ensembles.

Commissioning new music is incredibly exciting and offers a unique opportunity to not only support new music but also provide your ensemble and/or audience with an engaging, custom experience through a new work of music.

How much does it cost?

Prices can vary based on so many factors about the piece I'm creating for you. To give you an example, here's a "Custom Choral Comissions Menu" that describes how a choral piece might vary in price based on what you need:

Don't let sticker shock prevent you from reaching out!  My goal is to create a piece that meets your vision while staying within your budget, and I’ll do my best to make that happen! Let’s chat about what works for you.

How does a Custom Commission work?

  1. Initial Consultation – First, reach out! We’ll set up a time to discuss your needs—whether in person or via call. In this "Discovery" conversation, we’ll explore your vision, timeline, potential clinician work, and budget to ensure the piece fits your goals.

  2. Contract & Agreement Once we finalize the details, I’ll draft a simple contract outlining our agreement and expectations. If any adjustments are needed, just let me know! Once I receive the signed contract, work will officially begin.

  3. Composition & Updates – Throughout the process, I’ll provide periodic updates so you can see the piece taking shape. By the agreed deadline, you’ll receive the completed work along with any additional materials outlined in our contract.
